The phases of matter are liquids, gases, and solids. Liquids are in a total disorder, meaning that all of the molecules it consists of move around the empty space. Gases are found in a smaller disorder where they cannot move as freely, but comparing to the solid stage that is arranged in an order, it can actually move while the solid stay in its original form. The fourth stage of matter is similar to gas, and it is called Plasma. In that chemical compound, certain portions of molecules ionized. Plasma does not have a definite shape or a definite volume just like gas, unless enclosed in a container. Unlike gases, plasmas under the influence of magnetic fields can form structures such as filaments, beams and double layers.

Chemistry Issues
One of the few issues in chemistry are also found in green chemistry, also named sustainable chemistry. Green chemistry applies to organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and even physical chemistry.That type of chemistry that is mainly a philosophy of research and investigation that minimize the use of hazardous substances. The issues that bother that branch of chemistry the most at the moment are toxic disposal and the Global Warming. The scientists who try to provide a good environment, based on the green chemistry, are trying to reduce the amount of waste and clean the areas for other peoples' and the environment's good.

Absolute Zero Part 1
3 WOWs:
- What kind of captured my attention the most is the fact that the guy who invented the Celsius scale did it upside down, meaning the settings of the 0 and 100 degrees were switched.
- It was amazing to see how easy it was to create a cooler temperature in an interior just by mixing salt with water and some other ingredients.
- Lastly, I found it akward that the water as started with weighted the same as the ice that it produced into.
3 Wonders:
- One of the things I'm wondering about is why the women had the most influence on men, and if so, why didn't they receive the credits?
- Also, I wonder why the guy who invented the Celsius scale did it upside down.
- How did anyone come to the idea of the liquefied oxygen?

Diamonds Are a Scientist's Best Friend
A diamond is an allotrope of carbon. It is the most concentrated form of carbon. Carbon can be found anywhere, even in our own bodies. Diamonds are found under the earth's crust, but later they are brough up by magma through the volcano's. The largest diamond in the world is called "The Golden Jewel". It has 546 karat, and it can easily fit in the palm of a person's hand. Apart from these diamonds under the Earth's crust, there are cosmic diamonds found in the galaxy.

Red Dread
7 cities of Hungary were hit by the flood of water waste from a neraby aluminum plant. The mud is radioactive and highly corrosive, damaging the nearby farms and fields. The accident occured on Monday, October the 4th. By now, 123 persons have been injured, 8 were prounounced missing, and 4 dead. The aluminum waste can cause skin burns and blindness if gets in your eyes.
The mud - a residue from aluminum production which is slightly radioactive, highly corrosive and contains toxic heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, arsenic and chromium -- destroyed all vegetation other than trees and seeped into hundreds of houses in the villages and contaminated waterways.
The devastation spread across an area of 40 square kilometers, and is going towards the Danub which goes through Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine to the Black Sea. Trying to prevent more damage, 500 people are cleaning up the cities and the inside of houses. Officials said that this is the biggest chemical damage they ever had!

Chemistry
The research I did to create this diagram was basically looking at my old blog posts and finding what we did before, and then translating it onto this bubbl.us doc. For the reactions, I used the examples from the Chemical Party, and in the whole diagram I included the basic stuff we learned.

Nitrogen Article
1. The three chemicals used in the growth of plants: nitrogen, prohsphorus and potassium.
2. The three plants that can use N2 are soybeans, peas and clover. They are able to use it because they have a symbiotic bacteria growing in their roots. Thos bacteria have a rare ability to convert N2 into chemically usable form.
3. Nitrogen is either present as ammonia (NH3) or the ammonium
ion (NH4+) in soil or a fertilizer.
4. Nitrogen makes up 80% of the air.
5. Nitrogen can harm the environment in a way being released out and the nitrogen that had been released forms compounds that can cotribute to our changing climate and create conditions that would cause the loss of fish and other marine life. Also, when there is too much nitrogen leaking out,or there's too much being used, it doesn't go back in the atmosphere, and instead it causes the environmental pollution.
6. Scientists are breeding new crops that would live for many years. This way, farmers would not have to grow them again every year and, as a result, would use less fertilizer, which would reduce the use of nitrogen and would result with less environmental pollution.
The connection between this article and the water one is that both have a huge impact on the world and the environmental pollution. Water is needed for many purposes including food, and nitrogen is needed for growing plants and food. If there wasn't for the nitrogen, we would have a lot of trouble with growing crops, and if it wasn't for water, we would die of thirst.
